FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions:

The licensure process can be highly variable, as different boards have different processing times. While some states can issue licenses in as little as a week from the submission of your application, others may take 6+ months due to their backlog or large pool of applicants. On average, most states issue most types of licenses in the range of 2-4 months, but this process is also dependent on the amount of time it takes to complete and process fingerprinting background checks.

Each provider is assigned a dedicated processor who manages their file across all product lines. This ensures consistency, accountability, and a single point of contact for all processing needs. If any questions or concerns arise during the process, you should reach out to your assigned processor, who will assist in addressing and escalating matters as needed.

For clients who prefer more consistent or structured updates, NML offers customizable communication and reporting packages. These pricing options are tailored to your organization’s needs and can include full company updates, file-level reporting, and scheduled status communications with a Client Success Manager.

In most cases, no. NML now offers a fingerprinting service designed to eliminate the need for repeated fingerprint scans.

With this service, you complete a one-time fingerprint scan, and NML securely retains your prints for future use. We can then print your fingerprints onto compliant fingerprint cards and submit them directly to applicable State Boards as needed.

This approach significantly reduces delays, eliminates redundant appointments, and streamlines processing for both NML and State Boards.

Please note that fees apply for this service. Availability may vary depending on specific state requirements.

Certain states require a jurisprudence exam to ensure that providers know their state’s rules and regulations dictating the practice of healthcare. JP Exams are always open book, and answers are usually readily available on a state medical or nursing board’s website. These are usually completed by logging into an online portal and submitting the answers digitally, but Oregon requires a paper exam to be completed and scanned for providers who are required to take the JP exam. The following list is which states require JP exams, by profession:

Wisconsin
